Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) marked another milestone in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) journey with the successful convocation ceremony of the third batch of its skill development training programme conducted at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Raipur.

The programme, organised under BCCL’s CSR initiative, trained 120 youth in total, with 35 trainees from the third batch graduating during the ceremony held today. The objective of the initiative is to empower local youth with industry-relevant technical skills, enhance employability, and promote self-reliance. BCCL’s CSR team joined the event virtually.

All trainees in the third batch hailed from Jharia, Baghmara, Nirsa, Govindpur and other blocks of Dhanbad district. During the course, participants received high-quality technical education, well-structured residential facilities, and comprehensive placement support from CIPET Raipur.

Highlighting the effectiveness of the programme, the graduates were selected for direct company roles at Yazaki India Private Limited, Pune — a leading industrial organisation. The placements underscore the industry relevance and quality of the training imparted.

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has taken a significant step towards skill development and employment generation for local youth under the Jharia Master Plan. As part of its social rehabilitation and resettlement efforts, BCCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five reputed skill development institutes to provide employment-oriented vocational training to youth from the Belgadia and Karmatand areas.

The skill development partners include well-known institutions such as Drona Institute, Mosaic Workskills, and Shubh Drishti, among others. Under this initiative, selected youth will be trained in 19 different vocational trades, carefully identified to meet current industry and service sector requirements.

The training programme includes several high-demand and advanced courses, such as retail sales, medical records assistant, and web developer, along with other job-oriented skills. The courses are designed not only to enhance employability but also to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship, enabling participants to build sustainable livelihoods.

Beyond skill training, the initiative places strong emphasis on employment counselling, placement assistance, and career guidance, ensuring that trainees are supported through the transition from learning to earning. The programme aims to empower youth to become self-reliant and economically independent.

This initiative aligns closely with the broader objectives of the Jharia Master Plan, which focuses on the rehabilitation and resettlement of families displaced due to mining activities, while simultaneously creating long-term livelihood opportunities.

By directly benefiting hundreds of youth in the Belgadia and Karmatand regions, the programme is expected to significantly enhance local employment prospects and contribute to economic empowerment and social stability in the region. BCCL’s effort reflects its continued commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development in coal-bearing areas.
