In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots education and women empowerment through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Bharat Coking Coal Limited successfully concluded its six-month Montessori Teachers Training Programme in Dhanbad with a certificate distribution and closing ceremony held at the Community Hall, Koyla Nagar.

The programme was organised by Mahila Vikas Shikshan Prashikshan Samiti, Dhanbad in collaboration with BCCL under the company’s CSR initiative aimed at enhancing the professional competence of teachers and promoting modern child-centric teaching methodologies.

As part of the ceremony, certificates and mark sheets were distributed to 50 teachers from three participating educational institutions — Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Bhuli; Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Shyamdih Katras; and Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Tetulmari — who successfully completed the intensive six-month Montessori training.

The event was graced by BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal as the Chief Guest. He personally handed over certificates and congratulated the teachers for their dedication towards educational excellence.

Senior officials including Surendra Bhushan, Head of Department (CSR), members of the BCCL CSR team, principals of participating schools, teachers, parents and students were also present during the function.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal emphasized that quality education forms the backbone of a progressive society and teachers are the most critical pillars in shaping future generations.

“Training programmes like these sharpen the capabilities of teachers, improve classroom engagement and ultimately contribute to the holistic development of students. Through its CSR initiatives, BCCL remains committed to education, skill development and community upliftment,” he said.

He further expressed confidence that the trained teachers would effectively utilise the knowledge and practical skills gained during the programme to build a brighter and more informed future for students.

The ceremony commenced with a formal welcome of guests, ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, setting a culturally vibrant tone for the event.

Students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir presented an impressive Ganesh Vandana and a welcome song, while a student from SSVM Bhuli mesmerised the audience with a dynamic dance performance based on Shiva Tandava.

In her welcome address, Dr. Arvinder Kaur, Secretary of Mahila Vikas Shikshan Prashikshan Samiti, highlighted the objectives and significance of the Montessori Teachers Training Programme. She said the initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening teachers’ professional skills and introducing innovative teaching practices in schools.

During the event, CMD BCCL and principals of all participating schools were felicitated for their notable contributions in promoting quality education through collaborative CSR efforts. Dr. Upendra Kumar of BBMKU and several other dignitaries also contributed significantly to the programme.

The function concluded with a formal vote of thanks amid appreciation from parents, students and educators for BCCL’s sustained commitment towards social development through education.

With this initiative, BCCL has once again reinforced the role of public sector enterprises as catalysts of inclusive growth, educational advancement and long-term community transformation in coal belt regions.
