The centre was inaugurated by Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL, and forms part of a larger initiative under which 200 Anganwadi Centres across Bilaspur district are being upgraded with a financial outlay of ₹4.72 crore.

Addressing the gathering, Biranchi Das highlighted the importance of quality early childhood education and improved learning facilities in shaping the overall development of children. He said the upgraded centre would provide a more engaging and conducive environment for learning and growth.

Senior SECL officials, including Ajay Behera, General Manager (CSR), and members of the CSR Department were present during the inauguration ceremony.

The Anganwadi Centre currently caters to 22 enrolled children. To mark the occasion, educational materials including books, pencils, drawing pads, sketchbooks and other learning aids were distributed among the children.

The modernized facility features child-friendly classrooms, enhanced sanitation infrastructure, educational learning aids and modern furniture designed to support holistic early childhood development.

SECL has been actively implementing CSR projects across Bilaspur district in the areas of education, healthcare and social welfare. Recently, the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Old Age Home and Divyangjan Rehabilitation Centre at Sakri, Bilaspur, funded through SECL’s CSR programme, was laid by CM Vishnu Deo Sai.

Advanced Diagnostic Capabilities

The newly installed hematology analyzer enables:

• 5-part differential testing of white blood cells
• Accurate detection of infections and diseases
• Faster and automated diagnostic processes
• Minimisation of manual errors in reporting

This advanced system significantly enhances laboratory efficiency, ensuring quicker and more reliable medical reports for patients.

Boost to Healthcare Infrastructure

During his visit to the health centre, the Minister reviewed medical facilities and appreciated SECL’s efforts in delivering quality healthcare services.

The initiative aligns with SECL’s broader commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in coalfield regions under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework.

Digital Healthcare Transformation

Complementing the infrastructure upgrade, the Minister also launched the Hospital Management and Information System (HMIS) portal, aimed at:

• Digitising patient records
• Improving hospital administration
• Ensuring faster and efficient medical services
• Enabling better monitoring of healthcare delivery

The integration of digital systems with advanced diagnostic tools is expected to significantly improve patient care outcomes.

CSR Driving Community Welfare

SECL continues to prioritise healthcare as a key pillar of its CSR initiatives, focusing on:

• Accessible medical services for local communities
• Modernisation of healthcare facilities
• Preventive and diagnostic care in remote coalfield areas

The Minister emphasised that such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring that quality healthcare reaches underserved populations, reinforcing the social responsibility of public sector enterprises.
