<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the remote villages and tribal hamlets of Singrauli, where childhood was once overshadowed by poverty, limited resources, and lack of educational opportunities, a quiet yet powerful transformation is underway.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A subsidiary of Coal India Limited, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) is driving this change through its impactful CSR initiative — <strong>“Seva Kutir.”</strong> The program is emerging as a beacon of hope, empowering hundreds of children through access to education and care.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Through its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, NCL, in partnership with Parivar Education Society, is scripting inspiring stories of change across <strong>25 villages in Singrauli</strong>. Under the Seva Kutir initiative, children receive <strong>supplementary education along with nutritious meals twice a day</strong>, creating an environment where learning and well-being go hand in hand.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="461" src="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG-20260522-WA0027-1024x461.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-30986" srcset="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG-20260522-WA0027-1024x461.jpg 1024w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG-20260522-WA0027-300x135.jpg 300w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG-20260522-WA0027-768x346.jpg 768w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG-20260522-WA0027.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond academics, the initiative places strong emphasis on <strong>holistic development</strong>. Daily activities include sports, yoga, storytelling, painting, handicrafts, and moral education—nurturing creativity, discipline, confidence, and communication skills among children.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Currently, <strong>over 2,000 children</strong> are benefiting from Seva Kutir centres. Each child undergoes a foundational assessment to gauge their learning levels, enabling educators to adopt a <strong>personalized teaching approach</strong>. This has proven especially impactful for first-generation learners, helping them overcome hesitation and develop a genuine interest in education.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the key goals of Seva Kutir is to prepare students for admission into reputed residential institutions such as <strong>Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya</strong>, <strong>Eklavya Model Residential School</strong>, and Kanya Shiksha Parisar. These schools offer quality education up to Class 12 and open pathways to brighter futures.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In December last year, <strong>89 students</strong> from Seva Kutir centres appeared for the Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examination, with teachers providing end-to-end support—from application to preparation. Additionally, applications for <strong>131 students</strong> were submitted for admission to Eklavya schools.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among the many inspiring success stories are <strong>Sunita Devi</strong>, <strong>Vikas Baiga</strong>, and <strong>Neelam Devi</strong>. Once constrained by social and economic challenges—with days often spent in household chores or grazing cattle—their aspirations were limited by circumstance.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">However, their journey took a transformative turn after joining Seva Kutir. With consistent guidance, a structured learning environment, and emotional support, they rediscovered confidence and ambition.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Today, all three have successfully cleared the entrance examination for the prestigious <strong>Eklavya Model Residential School</strong>, demonstrating that with the right opportunities and mentorship, extraordinary outcomes are possible.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Seva Kutir is not just an education initiative—it is a movement.</strong> A movement that nurtures dreams, builds self-belief, and empowers children in remote communities to envision and achieve a better future.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a significant boost to rural education, the Government Senior Secondary School in Lilodh village has undergone a major transformation following infrastructure support provided by APCPL Power Plant, Jhadli, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The initiative has upgraded the entire school furnishing — including classrooms, science laboratory, computer lab, library and primary wing — creating a more organised and student-friendly learning environment. School authorities say the improvements have directly enhanced classroom engagement and teaching efficiency.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1-1024x682.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-30757" srcset="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.37.59-PM-1.jpeg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Earlier, the absence of proper seating, writing facilities and laboratory infrastructure posed serious challenges to both students and teachers. With the installation of new furniture and functional lab setups, academic activities have become smoother and more practical-oriented.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">An inauguration ceremony was held at the school in the presence of <strong>Vijay Kumar Yadav, SDM Kosli (Rewari)</strong>, as Chief Guest, and <strong>Umesh Kumar, Additional General Manager (HR), APCPL</strong>, as Guest of Honour. The event was attended by the school principal, teachers and students.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As part of the programme, APCPL also highlighted its flagship CSR education initiative <strong>‘Nanhe Kalam’</strong>, being implemented in partnership with NGO <em>Self Reliant India</em>. The after-school programme supports government school students aged 10–12 years, preparing them for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examinations in Jhajjar and Rewari districts. Currently, 57 students are enrolled, all of whom have already appeared for the Class VI JNV examination.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3-1024x682.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-30758" srcset="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.36.41-PM-3.jpeg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Commenting on the impact, <strong>Ravinder Yadav, English Lecturer and State Vice President, Haryana School Lecturers Association</strong>, said, <em>“Earlier, poor seating arrangements made it difficult to keep students attentive. Now, with improved classroom conditions, teaching has become more focused. We are thankful to APCPL for this meaningful support.”</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Students have also welcomed the changes. <strong>Khushi, a Class XI student</strong>, shared, <em>“Now we can study comfortably on chairs and tables. Earlier, everyone could not work together properly in the science lab. With more space and facilities, teachers can explain concepts better through experiments.”</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1-1024x682.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-30759" srcset="https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https://indianpsucsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-05-at-3.39.28-PM-1.jpeg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The availability of furniture in primary classrooms has further made learning more comfortable for younger children. The school management believes the upgraded infrastructure will positively influence attendance, concentration and student confidence.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The initiative underlines how targeted CSR interventions can deliver tangible improvements in rural government education, reinforcing the role of industry in strengthening grassroots learning ecosystems.</p>
