The programme will be implemented across Jhajjar district in Haryana with the objective of protecting adolescent girls from cervical cancer — a potentially life-threatening yet largely preventable disease.

As part of the initiative, girls in the age group of 9 to 14 years will receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which medical experts consider most effective when administered before exposure to the virus. Early immunisation significantly reduces the risk of developing cervical cancer later in life.

The project will be executed by Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) at the Primary Health Centre, Bahu. To formalise the collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was earlier signed between APCPL and HLFPPT, establishing a structured framework for implementation and outreach activities.

Prior to the rollout of vaccination, an awareness session was organised at APCPL for the daughters participating in the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM). During the session, healthcare experts sensitised the participants about cervical cancer, its causes, preventive measures, and the importance of timely HPV vaccination.

The awareness programme aimed to dispel myths, build health awareness, and empower young girls to make informed decisions regarding their long-term well-being. The initiative reflects APCPL’s continued commitment to community health, women’s empowerment, and sustainable social development in the region.

During the campaign, anti-filariasis medicines, including Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) and Albendazole tablets, were administered and distributed free of cost to over 200 beneficiaries, including local residents, BCCL employees, their families, and other citizens.

In addition to the drug distribution drive, a special health camp was organised to spread awareness about diabetes and hypertension. Beneficiaries underwent free blood pressure and hypertension screenings, while specialist doctors provided medical consultations and necessary guidance.

The programme was presided over by Director (Human Resources), Mr. Murali Krishna Ramaiah. Among those present were General Manager (Administration) Mr. Arpan Ghosh, Head of Department (Welfare) Mrs. Kiran Rani Nayak, Medical Officer (Bhuli RH) Dr. Abhijit Kumar, along with other doctors, paramedical and nursing staff, officers, and employees of Bhuli Regional Hospital.

Mr. Prem Narayan Singh, Mr. Vinod Singh, and other hospital staff played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme.

It is noteworthy that under the guidance of the district administration, the filariasis eradication campaign is being conducted across the district from February 11 to February 25, 2026. As part of this drive, health workers are undertaking door-to-door distribution of medicines to ensure maximum coverage. In continuation of this effort, the Bhuli Regional Hospital team also carried out large-scale medicine distribution during the day.

The initiative highlights BCCL’s sustained efforts towards preventive healthcare and community welfare in its operational areas.
