BCCL Holds First Meeting of Newly Formed Women Welfare Committee at Coal Bhawan

The committee has been constituted in accordance with the guidelines of Coal India and includes six female officers at the headquarters level along with six representatives from various labour unions

The first meeting of the newly constituted Women Welfare Committee of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) was held at the Coal Bhawan Headquarters, marking a significant step towards strengthening workplace welfare and empowerment of women employees in the organization.

The meeting was chaired by Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiah and attended by several senior officials including CMS Dr. Poonam Dubey, General Manager (HRD) Anup Kumar Roy, General Manager (Human Resources) Kumar Manoj, General Manager (CSR/MP & IR) Surendra Bhushan, and Head of Department (Welfare) Kiran Rani Nayak, along with members of the newly formed committee.

The programme began with a formal welcome of dignitaries and committee members. Committee Chairperson Dr. Poonam Dubey honoured the guests and executive members of the Women Welfare Committee by presenting shawls and saplings.

In her welcome address, Head of Department (Welfare) Kiran Rani Nayak emphasized the need for forming the Women Welfare Committee and highlighted its importance in strengthening institutional support for women employees. She noted that BCCL’s initiative is the first of its kind within Coal India Limited, making it a proud milestone for the organization.

Addressing the gathering, Director (HR) Murali Krishna Ramaiah said that women employees play a crucial role in the progress of any organization and ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive workplace environment is a key responsibility of the management. He stated that the formation of the Women Welfare Committee reflects BCCL’s strong commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women employees.

He expressed confidence that the committee will contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and sensitive work culture through initiatives addressing issues related to women employees.

Committee Chairperson Dr. Poonam Dubey described the formation of the committee as an important step toward coordinated efforts on matters concerning the interests, safety, and welfare of women employees in BCCL. She added that the committee will serve as a strong platform for women employees to voice their concerns and ideas while promoting awareness, participation, and leadership among them.

During the meeting, preliminary discussions were held on the committee’s functioning, future activities, and various initiatives aimed at improving welfare measures for women employees.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Head of Department (Welfare) Kiran Rani Nayak.
