The wedding celebrations began with the groom’s side arriving at the community hall in a traditional procession from the Durga Temple in Coal Nagar. The Samdhi-Milan ceremony followed, during which the bride’s families warmly welcomed the wedding procession.

At the wedding pavilion, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Deeksha Mahila Mandal President Archana Agarwal welcomed all couples with scarves and shawls before the couples exchanged garlands. Amid the sound of Shehnai, Vedic chanting and traditional songs, priests solemnised the marriages according to Hindu rituals.

Following the ceremony, dignitaries blessed the couples during the Sumangli Abhishekam and wished them a happy and prosperous married life.

Speaking on the occasion, Archana Agarwal said that the mass marriage programme reflects the Mahila Mandal’s strong commitment towards social welfare. She noted that the organisation has consistently undertaken initiatives aimed at the upliftment and empowerment of underprivileged sections of society.

“Organising this event on International Women’s Day has brought new happiness to ten families and marked the beginning of a new life for these couples,” she said, extending her best wishes to the newlyweds.

BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal said that the initiative demonstrates the Mahila Mandal’s sensitivity towards social issues. He added that such programmes provide meaningful support to economically weaker sections while strengthening community bonding and social harmony.

He congratulated the members of Deeksha Mahila Mandal for successfully organising the programme and encouraged them to continue undertaking such socially meaningful initiatives in the future.

After the ceremony, Deeksha Mahila Mandal distributed essential household items to the newly married couples, including beds, utensils, clothes, cosmetics and ration supplies to help them begin their new lives.

The wedding ceremony was conducted under the guidance of City Priest of Coal City, Munna Pandey, along with his team of priests.

The second and final day of the event stood out for its strong focus on social responsibility, creativity, inclusivity, and community bonding.

A major highlight of the concluding day was a significant CSR initiative under which battery-operated tricycles were distributed to 10 differently-abled individuals from Dhanbad and nearby areas. The tricycles were provided under a BCCL CSR project through Diksha Mahila Mandal in the presence of BCCL’s top management.

In another touching gesture, Diksha Mahila Mandal, in coordination with BCCL management, decided to extend financial and complete educational support to a 10-year-old girl from an economically disadvantaged family who lost an arm in an accident and was forced to discontinue her studies. The Mandal assured all possible assistance for her rehabilitation and education.
