<p class="wp-block-paragraph">NTPC Limited&#8217;s NTPC Bongaigaon formally launched the <strong>5th edition of its flagship Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026</strong> on July 4, reaffirming its commitment to empowering young girls from rural communities through education, leadership development and life skills.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The inaugural programme was graced by <strong>Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director (Finance), NTPC Limited</strong>, in the presence of <strong>Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon</strong>, <strong>Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club</strong>, and <strong>Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&amp;M), NTPC Bongaigaon</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This year&#8217;s programme has selected <strong>50 girls from 12 neighbouring schools</strong>, an increase of 10 participants over previous editions. The month-long residential initiative is designed for girls aged 10–12 years and focuses on building self-confidence, leadership qualities, life skills and social responsibility. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by the NTPC theme song.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Senior officials, including <strong>L. N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF</strong>, <strong>Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR</strong>, representatives of unions and associations, welfare organisations, teachers, parents and guardians attended the inaugural ceremony.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The event featured a short film tracing the journey of <strong>GEM 2026</strong>, vibrant cultural performances by girls from the <strong>Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club</strong> and students of <strong>Notre Dame Academy</strong>, along with inspiring testimonials from alumni of the <strong>GEM 2023</strong> batch. Students also presented a moving performance inspired by the life and ideals of Malala Yousafzai, highlighting the transformative power of education in empowering girls.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Addressing the gathering, <strong>Jaikumar Srinivasan</strong> emphasised that empowering girls is fundamental to building stronger families and communities. He praised NTPC Bongaigaon for creating a nurturing environment that encourages young girls to realise their full potential. Following the inaugural programme, he visited the residential facilities, interacted with the participants and distributed <strong>bicycles to all 50 girls</strong> as a gesture of encouragement for their educational journey.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In his address, <strong>Arnab Maitra</strong> reaffirmed NTPC&#8217;s commitment to education, empowerment and inclusive growth, describing the <strong>Girl Empowerment Mission</strong> as one of the organisation&#8217;s flagship community development initiatives that nurtures confident, capable and socially responsible future women leaders.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The four-week residential programme, running from <strong>4 July to 31 July 2026</strong>, offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes academic learning, personality development, digital literacy, sports, creative arts, health and wellness sessions, exposure visits and activities aimed at enhancing the participants&#8217; physical, mental and emotional well-being.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Delivering the vote of thanks, <strong>Amit Kumar Asthana</strong>, Head of HR, expressed gratitude to parents, teachers, volunteers, welfare organisations and the organising committee for their collective support in making the initiative successful.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Since its launch in <strong>2022</strong>, <strong>NTPC Bongaigaon</strong> has empowered <strong>210 girls</strong>, including participants in the current edition. A distinctive feature of the programme is that <strong>10 per cent of participants</strong>, selected through an independent evaluation conducted by an external agency, are provided <strong>free education at the NTPC township school</strong>, enabling deserving girls to continue their studies in a supportive learning environment.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Across the country, the <strong>Girl Empowerment Mission</strong> has benefited <strong>more than 13,000 girls</strong> at NTPC locations, reflecting the company&#8217;s sustained commitment to gender equality, social responsibility and sustainable community development.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Demonstrating its continued commitment to social welfare and community upliftment, Arpita Mahila Mandal organized a special marriage assistance programme for needy daughters and brides at the Sangam Auditorium of the Gangotri Convention Centre, Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Headquarters, Ranchi, on Friday.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme was conducted under the guidance of <strong>Mrs. Preeti Singh, President of Arpita Mahila Mandal</strong>, with the objective of supporting economically weaker families and helping young women embark on a new phase of life with dignity and confidence.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As part of the initiative, marriage aid materials were distributed to <strong>16 beneficiaries</strong>, including <strong>15 daughter-brides selected from various CCL operational areas</strong> and <strong>one beneficiary from the CCL Headquarters</strong>. The beneficiaries received essential household and wedding-related items, including a wardrobe, air bag, saree, scarf, towel, wedding bag, and fruit basket.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In addition to the material assistance, financial support was also provided to each beneficiary. Mrs. Preeti Singh further extended additional cash assistance as a gesture of affection and blessings for the daughters entering married life.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The successful organization of the programme was supported by <strong>Mrs. Rita Tiwari, Mrs. Rupa Rani, Mrs. Rita Mishra, and Mrs. Neeru Hanjura</strong>, along with the cooperation of regional General Managers and officials from the CCL Headquarters.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Preeti Singh emphasized that Arpita Mahila Mandal has consistently worked towards the welfare of underprivileged and economically weaker sections of society. She noted that the organization regularly undertakes community-centric initiatives aimed at providing meaningful support to those in need and remains committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to Arpita Mahila Mandal for the assistance and encouragement. The event witnessed emotional moments as the daughters and brides received the support, with many expressing renewed confidence and optimism about their future.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Limited, organized a valediction ceremony for its mobile digital learning initiative, <strong>World on Wheels (WoW)</strong>, at V.S. Public Inter College, Kursath, in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Implemented under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Dalmia Bharat Sugar &amp; Industries Limited, Unit Gangapur, Hardoi, the programme aims to expand access to digital education and bridge the digital divide in rural communities.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As part of the initiative, 90 students, including 40 girls and 50 boys from Kursath and 13 surrounding villages, successfully completed the digital literacy training programme. Launched in October 2025, the programme is designed to equip rural youth and women with essential digital skills that are increasingly required in today&#8217;s technology-driven world.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The training is conducted inside the <strong>World on Wheels Bus</strong>, a solar-powered and internet-enabled mobile digital classroom. Participants receive hands-on training in computer operations, internet usage, email communication, file management, and online safety.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During FY 2025-26, the initiative benefited 280 students, helping them enhance their digital awareness and readiness for education, employment, and daily life in an increasingly digital environment.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The valediction ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including <strong>Tej Narayan Singh</strong>, Unit Head; <strong>Maan Singh</strong>, Gram Pradhan, Kursath; <strong>Vikram Singh</strong>, Chairman, Nagar Panchayat Kursath; <strong>Raj Bahadur</strong>, Principal, V.S. Public Inter College; along with members of the Dalmia Bharat Sugar management and the Dalmia Bharat Foundation team.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Speaking on the occasion, <strong>Ashok Kumar Gupta</strong>, CEO of Dalmia Bharat Foundation, said that access to technology and digital skills has become critical for education, employment, and entrepreneurship in today&#8217;s digital-first world. He congratulated the students for successfully completing the training programme and taking an important step towards a brighter future.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He further emphasized Dalmia Bharat&#8217;s commitment to ensuring that rural youth and women have access to the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital age, adding that the organization remains proud to support young learners in their journey of growth and progress.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The World on Wheels initiative reflects Dalmia Bharat Foundation&#8217;s commitment to promoting digital inclusion by bringing technology-enabled learning opportunities directly to underserved communities. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Arpita Mahila Mandal of <strong>Central Coalfields Limited (CCL)</strong> celebrated <strong>International Women&#8217;s Day</strong> with great enthusiasm and active participation under the guidance of its President, Mrs. Preeti Singh. The event featured a series of creative competitions and a special felicitation ceremony to honour women employees for their dedication and contribution.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The celebration began with an <strong>Inter-Area Rangoli Competition</strong>, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from all 15 areas of CCL, along with female employees from the headquarters. The colourful and captivating rangoli designs reflected creativity, cultural vibrancy, and the spirit of women’s empowerment, adding a festive atmosphere to the event.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To further enhance the excitement, a <strong>Fruit, Vegetable and Dry Fruit Jewellery Competition</strong> was also organised. Members of the Arpita Mahila Mandal participated with great enthusiasm, presenting unique and innovative jewellery designs crafted from fruits, vegetables, and dry fruits. The competition highlighted the artistic skills and creativity of the participants.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the occasion, the Arpita Mahila Mandal also honoured women employees working in <strong>Jawahar Nagar Colony, Darbhanga House, and Gandhi Nagar Hospital and Colony</strong>. During the felicitation ceremony, the women employees were recognised for their dedication and hard work and were presented with umbrellas, towels, steel tiffin boxes, and tiaras as tokens of appreciation.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Through this initiative, the Mahila Mandal expressed gratitude for the invaluable contribution made by women employees in the organisation.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Speaking on the occasion, President Mrs. Preeti Singh appreciated the enthusiastic participation of members and staff. She emphasised the importance of empowering women, recognising their contributions, and providing platforms where they can showcase their talents and creativity.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners and appreciation for all participants, making the <strong>International Women’s Day celebration</strong> both inspiring and memorable.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among those present on the occasion were Arpita Mahila Mandal President Mrs. Preeti Singh, Vice President Mrs. Rita Mishra, and members Mrs. Rita Tiwari and Mrs. Neeru Hanjura.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Arpita Mahila Mandal organised Christmas and New Year celebrations at Shanti Sadan, Ormanjhi, spreading warmth, joy and compassion among women residents with mental health challenges.<br>Under the leadership and guidance of Mrs. Preeti Singh, President, Arpita Mahila Mandal, the members celebrated the festive occasion with great enthusiasm and a strong spirit of service. The event was marked by love, inclusivity and emotional bonding with the residents of Shanti Sadan.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The highlight of the programme was that all cultural performances were presented by the residents themselves. With the encouragement and support of the Sisters and Father of the institution, the residents confidently showcased their talent through melodious songs, vibrant group dances and an entertaining group comedy skit. Their performances were met with warm applause and appreciation from everyone present, including the members of Arpita Mahila Mandal.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Keeping the winter season in mind, Arpita Mahila Mandal distributed 50 blankets along with food packets to the residents to provide comfort during the cold weather. In addition, the organisation extended financial assistance of ₹15,000 in cash to support the ongoing welfare activities of Shanti Sadan.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Preeti Singh emphasised that such celebrations play a vital role in boosting the self-confidence of mentally ill individuals and contribute significantly to their emotional well-being, positive outlook and happiness.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme concluded on a heartfelt note, filled with harmony, joy and a spirit of selfless service, truly reflecting the social commitment, sensitivity and human values of Arpita Mahila Mandal.</p>
