Four girls from Project Affected Villages have secured admission to DAV NTPC Kanti in Class VI following their participation in NTPC Kanti’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026. NTPC Kanti will support their education up to Class XII/Intermediate, with an estimated expenditure of ₹10.50 lakh.
The four students — Varsha Kumari from Demha, Lakshmi Kumari from Rampur Lakshmi, Nishi Kumari from Bastpur Sherna and Anushka Kumari from Madhuban — were selected for admission on the basis of their performance during GEM-2026.
The month-long residential programme was organised by NTPC Kanti from May 25 to June 20, 2026, with 50 girls from Project Affected Villages participating in the initiative.
GEM-2026 combined academic learning with personality development and life-skills training. The participants received instruction in Mathematics, English, Hindi, Science and Computer Education, along with training and activities in yoga, dance, music, painting, karate, English speaking, public speaking and personality development.
The selection of four girls for admission to DAV NTPC Kanti is a significant outcome of the programme. NTPC Kanti has gone beyond the immediate intervention by committing to support their education through Class XII, providing continuity to the educational opportunity created through GEM.

By extending financial support beyond the duration of the GEM programme, NTPC is seeking to ensure that the selected students can continue their education without financial constraints.
GEM is a flagship initiative of NTPC focused on empowering young girls from communities located around its project areas. The programme combines academics with life skills, health and hygiene awareness, sports and personality development to create a supportive environment for girls to learn, grow and build confidence.
