NTPC Kanti Allocates ₹1 Crore for Development of Seven Ghats Under CSR

The initiative assumes significance ahead of the upcoming Chhath festival, when these water bodies witness large gatherings of devotees

NTPC Kanti has allocated ₹1 crore for the development of seven Chhath Ghats in and around the project area as part of its CSR initiative. The works will be executed through the concerned department of the Government of Bihar under the Deposit Work Scheme.

In this regard, Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, has written to the District Magistrate, Muzaffarpur, requesting execution of the proposed works through the concerned department of the Bihar Government. NTPC Kanti has earmarked a CSR budget of ₹1 crore for FY 2026-27 for the initiative.

The proposed Chhath Ghat development works will be undertaken at seven locations:

  1. Birpur Pokhar
  2. Sain Pokhar
  3. Maisaha Pokhar
  4. Panapur Kariyat Thana Pokhar
  5. Sirsia Math Pokhar
  6. Damodarpur Ganga Ram Pokhar
  7. Rani Pokhar

The development of these Chhath Ghats will provide residents, particularly those from surrounding and Project Affected Villages (PAVs), with safer and more convenient facilities for observing Chhath Puja and other community activities.

The initiative assumes significance ahead of the upcoming Chhath festival, when these water bodies witness large gatherings of devotees. The proposed infrastructure is expected to facilitate safer and more organised celebrations for the local community.

NTPC Kanti has been undertaking various CSR and community development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life and supporting the socio-economic development of communities around its project area. The development of Chhath Ghats is another step towards strengthening its commitment to community welfare and inclusive development.
