
Murali Krishna Ramaiah , Director (HR), inaugurated the training centre set up in Bhuli Township under the project ‘Bamboo Craft Skill Development Training for 50 Candidates’ approved for the financial year 2025-26 under BCCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity today. Surendra Bhushan , Head of Department (CSR), BCCL, and representatives of the BCCL CSR team and ACIC ( IIT – ISM ) Foundation were present on the occasion . The program began with a formal welcome for the guests and the lighting of a mass lamp. Dr. Akanksha Sinha , Chief Executive Officer (CEO ) of the ACIC Foundation , presented the program’s outline and outlined key points related to this initiative. In his address, Director (Human Resources), Mr. Murali Krishna Ramaiah, encouraged all participants to approach the training with dedication, discipline, and commitment. He urged participants to attend the training regularly for the next six months and maximize the benefits of this opportunity to develop their skills. He emphasized that skill development not only enhances individual capabilities but also serves as an important step towards self-reliance. Such training programs help create new livelihood opportunities for the local community, especially women. He added that the possibility of a buy-back arrangement for these bamboo products is also being considered, allowing them to be used as souvenirs and other useful items within BCCL. It is noteworthy that this project, approved for the financial year 2025-26 under BCCL’s CSR project, is being conducted in collaboration with ACIC (IIT-ISM) Foundation, under which participants will be trained in practical skills, design and various techniques of product manufacturing related to bamboo crafts. To make the training effective and quality, a special trainer has been invited from Assam, who will make the participants aware of the traditional and modern methods of bamboo crafts. During the programme, women representatives of Bhuli Nagar expressed their happiness and gratitude towards this initiative and said that this training programme will play an important role in creating new opportunities for self-employment and livelihood for the local community, especially women. This initiative was an important step under BCCL’s CSR efforts towards promoting skill development, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods of the local community.
