NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project (TTPS) concluded its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 on 8th June with a grand community celebration, marking the successful culmination of a transformative four-week residential program for 40 young girls from nearby villages.
The valedictory ceremony witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with Vijay Chand, Executive Director & Head of Project, NTPC Talcher Thermal, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. He was joined by Vibha Agarwal, President of Sagarika Ladies Club, NTPC employees and their families, local sarpanches, proud parents, and community members — all of whom played vital roles in supporting the mission.
The celebration was a vibrant showcase of the participants’ journey, featuring cultural dances, musical performances, speeches, yoga demonstrations, and self-defence displays. A standout moment was a moving street play on gender equality performed by the girls, trained by the renowned FIZA Arts team, which earned a standing ovation.
Over the span of the program, the girls received holistic training in digital literacy, spoken English, art & craft, health and hygiene, child rights, and personality development. Beyond skill development, the initiative aimed to build self-confidence, instill discipline, and inspire a vision for a brighter future.

This mission is a reflection of our commitment to inclusive growth and nation-building.”
One participant shared, “Before coming here, I never imagined speaking on a stage. Now, I want to become a teacher and help other girls like me.”
A proud parent added, “My daughter has returned with new confidence. I thank NTPC for giving our girls a platform we never had.”
The event concluded with certificate distribution, heartfelt applause, and emotional farewells, symbolizing not an end, but a powerful new beginning for the empowered daughters of the region.
