NTPC Bongaigaon Donates Sanitary Napkin Incinerators to Bodoland and Kokrajhar Universities

Step towards safe, hygienic and eco-friendly menstrual waste management for university students

Reinforcing its commitment to community health and women empowerment, NTPC Bongaigaon, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, in collaboration with the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, has donated seven sanitary napkin incinerators—five to Bodoland University and two to Kokrajhar University.

The distribution programme was graced by Kabita Deka, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Kokrajhar; Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club; Dr. Subung Basumatary, Registrar, Bodoland University; and Debaleena Das, DGM (HR), NTPC Bongaigaon, along with officials from the CSR team.

On the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) B.L. Ahuja, Vice Chancellor, Bodoland University, interacted with Smt. Kasturi Maitra and expressed his gratitude to NTPC for its support, describing the initiative as a meaningful step towards building a healthy and enabling environment for young women on campus.

Dignitaries at the event highlighted that the installation of sanitary napkin incinerators will ensure safe, hygienic, and eco-friendly disposal of menstrual waste. They emphasized that such interventions not only address menstrual hygiene challenges but also play a crucial role in breaking taboos, fostering awareness, and empowering students to pursue education with confidence and dignity.

This initiative underlines NTPC Bongaigaon’s sustained focus on CSR projects in health and education across the Bodoland Territorial Region, further strengthening its partnership with the District Administration to promote inclusive and sustainable development.
