SAIL Signs MoU with EdCIL to Set Up Smart Digital Classrooms Under CSR Initiative

SAIL-EdCIL Partnership to Promote Inclusive Digital Education Near Operational Areas

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL (India) Limited to establish Smart Digital Classrooms in schools located around SAIL’s operational areas under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The MoU was signed on May 26, 2026, in the presence of K. K. Singh along with senior officials from both organisations.

Under the collaboration, smart digital learning infrastructure will be installed in schools to improve access to technology-enabled education and strengthen learning outcomes for students in communities surrounding SAIL plants and units.

The initiative is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4), which focuses on ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.

As India accelerates digital transformation in the education sector, the SAIL-EdCIL partnership is expected to bridge learning gaps by introducing modern classroom technologies in underserved regions. The project also reflects the growing focus of public sector enterprises on leveraging CSR initiatives to support education, digital inclusion and community development.

SAIL, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Steel, is India’s largest public sector steel producer, while EdCIL operates under the Ministry of Education and works extensively in educational consultancy and project management services across India and abroad.
