WCL Signs MoUs with MP Tiger Foundation for Wildlife Conservation in Satpura and Pench Tiger Reserves

In a significant move towards strengthening wildlife conservation and ecological sustainability, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Madhya Pradesh Tiger Foundation to support critical conservation initiatives in the Satpura Tiger Reserve and Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.

The MoU signing ceremony was led by Dr Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), WCL, in the presence of Functional Directors of WCL, including Bikram Ghosh, Anandji Prasad, and Sandeep Paranjpay.

The conservation projects covered under the MoUs aim to strengthen wildlife protection and habitat management through a range of interventions. These include the construction of watch towers, enhancement of forest patrolling infrastructure, installation of solar-powered water systems, eradication of invasive plant species, and restoration of native grasslands.

According to WCL, these initiatives are expected to significantly improve ecological resilience and support biodiversity conservation in two of India’s most important tiger habitats. The projects will contribute to strengthening ecosystem health and ensuring the long-term sustainability of wildlife populations in the region.

The ceremony was attended by Deva Prasad J., Field Director of Pench Tiger Reserve, and Rakhi Nanda, Field Director of Satpura Tiger Reserve, along with senior officials from WCL and the Forest Department.

Speaking on the occasion, WCL reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company continues to contribute towards biodiversity conservation and the preservation of India’s rich natural heritage.

The latest partnership reflects WCL’s growing focus on balancing industrial growth with environmental responsibility and supporting conservation efforts that create a lasting positive impact on ecosystems and local communities.
